Axiom Institute of Mathematics

Terms

Axiom Institute of Mathematics is run by Stephen, the tutor, as an individual. Using the site means agreeing to what is on this page. It is deliberately short and in plain English: a student of fourteen is one of the people who has to be able to read it.

1.What this is

A place to learn and practice math: lessons, practice questions, mastery checks and full-length tests. One-to-one tutoring is a separate arrangement you make with Stephen. Booking, paying for and canceling those sessions is agreed with him directly, not through this site.

2.Who is agreeing

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian has to read this page and agree to it before you use the site, and they are agreeing along with you. If you are signing up for your child, you are agreeing on their behalf.

3.Your account

  • You must be 13 or older.
  • You sign in with Google, under your own name and address.
  • Keep your Google account to yourself. An account here is for one person.
  • Tell Stephen if you think somebody else has got into your account.

4.Using it fairly

Practice as much as you like. Do not copy the questions out of the site to publish or sell them, do not scrape it automatically, and do not try to break it or reach another student’s work. We may close an account that does.

5.Sessions and recordings

Sessions with Stephen are arranged with him, not here. If one is to be recorded he will tell you before it starts and ask first, and for a student under 18 a parent or guardian has to agree as well. You can say no and still have the session.

A recording is for the student who was in the lesson. Do not publish it or pass it on.

6.Parent accounts

A parent or guardian can link to a student’s account using a code the student generates in their settings. The link shows them how the work is going: practice, scores, topics passed. Never the questions or the answers typed. Either side can unlink at any time.

7.Who owns what

The lessons, questions and worked solutions are ours. The answers you write are yours; we store them to run the course and to show your progress, as described on the privacy page.

8.What we do not promise

We work hard to keep the questions correct and the marking fair, and there is a report button on every question so you can tell us when something is wrong. Even so, the site is provided as it is. We cannot promise a particular grade or test score, and we cannot promise the site will never be down.

Anything the site predicts (a grade, a score, how ready you are) is worked out from the practice you have done here and nothing else. It is an estimate to study by, not a forecast of a real result, and no decision that matters should rest on it alone.

As far as the law allows, Stephen is not liable for indirect losses that follow from using the site, such as a missed deadline or an exam result.

9.Ending it

You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and we will say why.

10.Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes and we will tell you the next time you sign in.

11.Law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Texas, in the United States.
