Privacy

Axiom Institute of Mathematics is run by Stephen, the tutor, as an individual rather than a company. This page says exactly what the site stores about you, why, and who else can see it, written from the code rather than from a template, so everything listed here is something the software actually does.

1.What we store

When you create an account, we store:

  • your name and email address, as your Google account gives them to us
  • your time zone, so lesson times show correctly
  • a picture, only if you choose to add one
  • a parent’s email address, only if you give one

As you use the site, we store the work you do:

  • the answers you give, whether they were right, and how long each question took
  • your scores, XP, streaks, and which topics you have passed
  • flashcard sets you build and sessions booked with Stephen
  • any problem you report with a question, and the note you attach

2.Why we store it

To run the course and to show progress to you and to Stephen. Your answers are what the practice is built from: the site picks your next questions out of the ones you have been getting wrong, and that only works because it remembers them.

3.What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
  • We do not show advertising.
  • We do not track you around the web, and nothing here sets a tracking cookie.
  • We do not use your work to train AI models.

4.Cookies and your browser

One cookie keeps you signed in. Without it you would have to sign in again on every page, which is why there is no way to turn it off and still use the site.

Two other things are stored in your browser and never sent to us: whether you picked light or dark mode, and any text you highlight on a question.

5.Who else can see it

  • Stephen, your tutor, sees your progress and your answers. That is the point of the site.
  • A parent or guardian you have linked sees how much you have practiced, how often, your scores, your predicted grade and which topics you have passed. They do not see the questions themselves or what you typed. Linking takes a code you generate in Settings and give them, so nobody is linked to you without you doing it. You can unlink them in Settings at any time.
  • Neon hosts the database, in the United States.
  • Google, who check that it is you when you sign in. That is the only way in here, so it applies to everybody. We ask Google for your name and email address and nothing else.
  • Desmos provide the calculator, which opens in a new tab. We send them nothing about you.
  • Vercel counts visits to each page, without cookies and without knowing who you are: which page, which country, and what kind of device.
  • Resend delivers the email described below, and so handles the address it is sent to. They are not used for anything else, and they are given nothing about you beyond what is in the message.
  • Sentry receives a report when something on the site breaks, so it can be fixed. Your sign-in cookie, your account details and what you typed are removed from the report before it is sent.

The practice questions were written in advance with an AI tool. No student work is ever sent to it.

6.Tutoring sessions

A session with Stephen happens outside this site, and what you agree with him about it is between you and him. If a session is recorded, he will tell you before it starts and ask first, and a student under 18 needs a parent or guardian to agree as well. What this site stores is a link to any recording and whiteboard the session left behind, so you can find them again, along with the date and the notes.

Nobody sees those but you, Stephen, and a parent or guardian you have linked.

7.Email we send

We email you about your account when we have to: a booking, or a change to these pages.

A parent or guardian linked to a student also gets a short summary once a week: how much was practiced, how it went, and what is next. It carries no questions and nothing the student typed. Every one has an unsubscribe link at the bottom that works in one click without signing in, and it can also be switched off in Settings. Turning it off never affects the account itself.

8.Your choices

You can, at any time and whoever you are:

  • see everything stored about you. It is what the site shows you
  • ask for it to be corrected, or for the account and all of it to be deleted
  • stop the weekly email, from the email itself or from Settings
  • unlink a parent or guardian from a student account

We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we never have. There is nothing to opt out of because there is nothing being done.

9.Where this runs

Axiom Institute of Mathematics is run from the United States for students in the United States, and everything above is stored there. It is not offered to people in the European Union or the United Kingdom.

10.Age

You must be 13 or older to have an account here, and we ask you to confirm that when you set up your account. If we find out an account belongs to a child under 13, we will delete it and everything stored with it.

If you are a parent and believe your child under 13 has made an account, email stephen.kaminskie@gmail.com and it will be gone the same day. Students under 18 should have a parent or guardian agree to these pages before signing up.

11.Keeping it, and deleting it

We keep your account and your work while your account exists, because the progress record is the product. Ask Stephen to delete your account and we will delete it, along with your answers and everything above.

12.Security

There is no password here to steal. Signing in goes through Google, so we never see one and never store one, and whatever protection you have put on your Google account: two-step verification, a passkey, protects this too. Traffic to the site and to the database is encrypted. No site is perfectly safe, and we will tell you if something happens that affects your information.

13.Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we will change the date at the top and tell you the next time you sign in.

14.Contact

Email stephen.kaminskie@gmail.com with any question about your information.
